Specialised Treatment for Addictions and Addictive Behaviours
Confidential assessment and referral to specialised recovery and residential treatment programmes.

Addictions can profoundly affect physical and mental health, family relationships, professional life, and overall quality of life. What often begins as an apparently manageable behaviour can develop into a situation that is difficult to overcome without specialised support.
Through MedicalPort, it is possible to obtain a confidential initial assessment and appropriate guidance towards specialised treatment programmes for substance and behavioural addictions, including alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling addiction, digital addictions, and other addictive disorders.
We work in collaboration with experienced multidisciplinary teams, enabling us to identify the most appropriate level of support for the needs of each individual and their family.
What is Residential Treatment?

Residential treatment is a form of intervention in which an individual temporarily stays in a specialised facility, living on-site for a defined period in order to receive intensive and structured support.
It is often used in more severe cases, when there is difficulty stopping substance use or addictive behaviours within the person's usual environment, a high risk of relapse, the presence of associated psychological difficulties, or a need to step away temporarily from circumstances that perpetuate addiction, such as certain relationships, environments, or routines.
This type of treatment typically includes:
- Assessment and diagnosis
- Detoxification and pharmacological treatment
- Individual, group and family counselling and psychotherapy
- Educational talks, workshops and therapeutic activities
- Occupational and recreational therapies (equine-assisted therapy, art therapy, yoga, Qigong and physical activity)
- Reintegration support
- Relapse prevention and post-discharge follow-up (aftercare)
- Self-help groups
A Person-Centred Approach to Recovery and Relapse Prevention
Every recovery journey is unique. For this reason, clinical assessment considers not only the addiction itself but also the emotional, family, social and behavioural factors that contribute to the problem.
Specialised programmes may include medical, psychiatric and psychological support, family intervention, therapeutic activities, and social reintegration strategies, with the aim of promoting sustained and long-term recovery.
Family Programme
The family plays a fundamental role in the recovery process and is often also affected by the consequences of behaviours associated with addiction and mental health difficulties. Their involvement in the therapeutic plan can contribute significantly to treatment outcomes by promoting a better understanding of the challenges involved and strengthening relationships and support resources.
Family support programmes provide opportunities for information, reflection and shared experiences, helping relatives develop more effective strategies for dealing with the challenges associated with recovery. The aim is to encourage active and healthy participation by the support network, fostering positive and sustainable change for everyone involved.
