SUPPORT FOR FERTILITY TREATMENTS
Infertility is defined as the inability to naturally conceive, carry or give birth to a healthy child.
According to the World Health Organization, infertility is the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after 24 months of trying. This is the standard definition, widely used in clinical practice and research across multiple fields.
Globally, it is estimated that infertility affects between 10% and 15% of couples of reproductive age. In recent years, the number of couples seeking fertility treatment has increased significantly. The stress linked to the desire to have a child often generates strong emotional reactions such as anger, depression, anxiety, marital strain and feelings of inadequacy. Research consistently shows that among infertile couples, women tend to experience higher levels of stress than their partners. Several studies indicate that stress is associated with lower pregnancy rates among women undergoing fertility treatment.
Given the significant role psychological factors can play in infertility, psychotherapeutic support is crucial for managing this complex problem, which has far-reaching physical, psychological, social and cultural impacts.
Our Intervention
As part of our international services, Oficina de Psicologia provides support for infertility through a multidisciplinary team approach with two main objectives:
-
To reduce anxiety, stress and the impact of previous trauma, helping to prepare the body for conception.
-
To manage expectations and core values, improving well-being for both the individual and the couple, especially in situations of frustration related to infertility.
When a couple contacts us for joint support through Couples Therapy, an intervention plan is developed for both partners, which may be complemented with individual psychotherapeutic sessions as needed.
Oficina de Psicologia provides psychological support for infertility, working within multidisciplinary teams

I've been fascinated by human behaviour since I was a child—the "why" behind our emotions, our reactions, and the relationships we build. This fascination led me to pursue a degree in Health Psychology, which I completed in 2007.
Over the years, my journey has evolved naturally. I started in the geriatric field, then moved on to working with adults, and later had the opportunity to work with children—an experience that turned into a deep passion. Today, I work with both children and adults, but it is within the world of childhood that I find some of my greatest challenges and motivations.
As I work daily with children, parents, and schools, I felt the need to deepen my knowledge of education. This led me to embark on a new journey and return to university, where I am now completing my second degree, this time in Education.
I love stimulating children's cognitive development, and I believe that each child has their own pace and unique needs. My commitment is to tailor every intervention individually, ensuring they feel understood, supported, and capable of reaching their full potential. I also strive to help families feel more secure and confident in their role—because raising a child can be challenging, but with the right support, everything becomes easier!
For me, true change happens when children, families, and schools work together. When everyone moves in the same direction, the results speak for themselves.
