The Beginning is a Portuguese group dedicated to the recovery of people affected by substance and behavioural addictions, mental health conditions, and psychosocial rehabilitation needs. Founded by professionals with more than three decades of experience in the field, the organisation has developed a person-centred approach that combines specialised clinical care, psychotherapeutic support, family involvement, and structured recovery programmes.
The philosophy of The Beginning is based on the belief that every recovery journey is unique and requires an individualised, multidisciplinary approach. The group brings together teams of doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, and other specialised professionals who work in a coordinated manner to support each individual throughout their process of change and recovery.
Two specialised centres, one integrated vision of recovery
The Beginning delivers its services through two specialised residential centres.
Heritage Counseling Clinic is a treatment facility focused on addictions, addictive behaviours, and mental health, offering intensive therapeutic programmes, multidisciplinary clinical care, and strong family involvement throughout the therapeutic process.
Horizonte Recover complements this provision through a sustained recovery model based on the therapeutic community approach, promoting personal responsibility, social integration, and the development of a healthy and purposeful life.
Together, these two centres address different clinical needs and stages of the recovery process, providing specialised programmes for alcohol and drug misuse, pathological gambling, behavioural addictions, anxiety, depression, and other related conditions.
